AC/DC : High Voltage
Ten Tons Of Tone Official Review and Rating.
AC/DC’s High Voltage, their 1975 debut album, is a raw and energetic introduction to the band’s hard-rock sound. From the opening moments, the album is driven by loud guitar riffs, pounding drums, and Bon Scott’s distinctive vocals. Tracks such as “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll)” and “T.N.T.” capture the band’s rebellious attitude and straightforward approach to rock music. The songs are simple but powerful, relying on catchy riffs and strong rhythms rather than complicated arrangements.
The track listing goes as follows,
It’s a Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll) (5.02)

One of the album’s greatest strengths is its sense of energy and personality. Bon Scott brings humour, swagger, and charisma to the performances, making even the simplest lyrics entertaining.
Some highlighted songs off of this album as chosen by Ten Tons Of Tone,
It’s a Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll) (5.02) - This opening track is a brilliant rock album filled with swagger, catchy guitar riffs and Bon Scott’s unmistakable vocals. It’s an all time classic, Metallica used it on their M72 tour as the band walked out to the stage. That should tell all !
Live Wire (5.51) - This track is raw, heavy, and full of attitude, driven by a powerful riff and a tight rhythm section. It captures AC/DC’s early energy perfectly and feels made for a loud live performance.
T.N.T (3.35) - This is an AC/DC song that’s needs no introduction. It is one of AC/DC’s most explosive early tracks, with a simple but incredibly effective riff and Bon Scott’s charismatic delivery. Its chant-like chorus gives it an infectious, rebellious energy that still hits hard.
Overall, High Voltage is an exciting debut that established many of the qualities that would make AC/DC one of rock’s most successful bands. It may not be as polished or consistent as some of their later classics, but its rawness is part of its appeal. The album is full of memorable riffs, energetic performances, and the attitude that became central to AC/DC’s identity.
